High School. Don’t those words just strike an unending joy in your heart? Memories of your most awkward experiences, embarrassment, fights with friends, maybe some rejection thrown in there… golden days. Well, I have good news: I’ve successfully made it through and I’m heading into my final semester. It feels a bit unreal if I’m honest. I haven’t minded high school too much, but I’m glad to move on for sure. I figured now would be as good a time as any to give you all a little update on what’s happening in Gabrielle’s world. Some of you have known me my whole life, most of you have known me for years, and a few of you have known me at most a few months (or don’t know me personally at all). I feel it’s only fair to give all of you the same update here as I’m sure even some of my oldest friends don’t know some of the stuff I have coming up (I’m not great at keeping people updated)! I’m a sucker for organization, so you’ll even get it in a numbered list.
1. The Arts!
The first of many exciting things coming up in the next few months is my participation with Asheville Performing Arts Academy’s Fall semester including their cabaret style production this November. I worked with APAA during their production of Newsies this past Spring/Summer and it was absolutely incredible! Newsies is definitely my favorite musical and it was a dream getting to perform it. Classes began this week for the Fall, and I’m already excited for the way this group is going to challenge me and push me to grow in the skills I already have as well as acquire some new ones! I’ll definitely be sharing more about what these classes look like, teach me, and what we end up putting together!
Plane tickets are booked, accommodations are set, and little to no plans have been made! I’ll be going down to Morelia, Mexico later this Fall towards the end of the semester to visit the Bourne family and the YWAM staff that we got to work with during our missions trip in Zapote. That’s about all I know. I’m sure that I’ll have more information closer to the trip and plenty of stories when I come back to the states. There’s never a dull moment with them!
That’s an exciting word, isn’t it? A close second after “High School”. If you want to get really technical, I’ve been in college for a year now through dual-enrollment. A more accurate statement would be I’m going to university which also sounds much more impressive. I’ll be heading up to Minnesota in January and beginning to pursue my major in intercultural studies at Bethany Global University. Bethany Global University is a missions college dedicated to affordable education for missionaries and to reaching the unreached! They are tuition-paid and part of the schooling is a 16-month internship where you get directly involved in the mission field while you finish your classes online. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to go to BGU and can’t wait to see where I go from there!
Speaking of where I go from there… Right now, my heart is in Mexico. While I’m aware this could change between now and my college graduation, I would love to be able to go back and live/work there permanently. We’ll see how that turns out. I have ideas of what I want the future to look like, but ultimately God determines where I am to go in this life. I’m open to and excited to see whatever that looks like!
These next few months are going to be challenging. I have a lot on my plate, a lot to be considering, and a lot of excitement potentially distracting me! Please keep me in your prayers as I try not to go insane keeping up with everything. I’m absolutely ecstatic about these new stages of life coming up and I know that God will use them to continue drawing me deeper and deeper into His love.
Hello beautiful people, thank you for reading! I’m so grateful for people like you who care about me, what I’m doing, and putting effort into keeping up with it all. I hope you’ve enjoyed these posts so far, and have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! Head over to @gabrielle____r on Instagram for more content as well!
