Stop Trying to be Right!

Lately I’ve been thinking about wisdom a lot (you can see my last post about it here). I’ve been on this journey of truly recognizing that all I am and all I have is from God (hence the probably most quoted passage of mine 2 Cor. 3:4-7). Included in this is wisdom. In my last post I mentioned a struggle I had before when asking God for wisdom which was my motivation. There was a time where I was desiring to be seen as wise more than desiring to actually become wise. This of course led to some inner conflict because I’d hear message after message about where your heart was in your petitions to God. I’d be in discussion after discussion encouraging people to examine their own heart and repent when necessary. I would then be praying and trying to convince myself that I was in the right mindset when it was very obvious my own petitions were pretty self-centered. I was trying to justify and defend myself. … More Stop Trying to be Right!

Wisdom: A Burden or a Blessing?

In the past year or so, my life has been full of excitement. I got a new job with incredible coworkers, I was accepted into my dream school, I met some of the best people during a trip to Mexico, I found out I would be an aunt (end of this month!), I joined the Asheville Performing Arts Academy for my senior year and somehow managed to get one of my dream roles. The past two months specifically have also been full of a lot of change. From being out of work, to online rehearsals, to getting this blog back up and running (thanks, Squaretrade), to spending more time at home and on my own than I have in… years probably. All these things have led me to asking the Lord over and over again for the same thing: wisdom. … More Wisdom: A Burden or a Blessing?

Let No One Despise Your Youth! (and 7 Other Commands for Young Christians)

Quick story about writing this blog post… I was about two paragraphs away from finishing one I had started two weeks ago when I decided this past Wednesday to change it. On Monday I felt like it wasn’t the right time for the other one I was writing. I don’t know if the wording is wrong, the content is off, or there’s just a time in the future that it will be of better use, but I knew today was not when I was meant to post it. Perhaps it’s just because someone needs this one more today. … More Let No One Despise Your Youth! (and 7 Other Commands for Young Christians)

Hey there! This is something I want to test out as a way to give you all more content while not sacrificing the time needed to properly articulate what I want to say in my longer posts. So, each week I’ll be alternating between a longer, article-like post and a post giving a worship song and a couple verses that have been particularly meaningful to me the past week or two. This is the first of that second kind of post! I encourage you to take the time necessary for you to read, pray about, and sing these verses and songs no matter how familiar you may already be with them. Time spent in God’s word and praising Him is always valuable. … More Song + Verse: 04.27.2020
